Courts, Conversations & Conferences: A Summer of Women’s Sport in Full Swing

🤸It’s been a whirlwind few weeks, and I couldn’t be more energised by what’s happening across the women’s sport landscape:

🎾 From Queen’s Club to Nottingham Open, I’ve been out and about with brilliant colleagues across the LTA, diving into what’s happening for women and girls this grass court season. (Spoiler: it’s a lot, and it’s exciting.) Thanks for all the time and company Caroline Lepetit, Lucy Ambrose, Jo Downing and Zuleikha Chikh and of course for linking all this up Abbie Lench. A massive congrats on all the achievements!

🎬 I’m gearing up to contribute to BBC 5 Live’s special programme live from Loughborough University on 23rd June, celebrating women’s sport and the people powering it forward. Tune in here: BBC 5 Live – Names Will Be Made – https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2025/5-live-names-will-be-made-live – it is quite the line up!

✒️ Putting the finishing touches on a presentation for the Women in Sport and Exercise Academic Network (WiSEAN) 24th and 25th June, where I’ll be joining the marvellous Dr Bryna Chrismas, Dr. Nonhlanhla Mkumbuzi, and Rebecca Grant on a panel that promises insight, inspiration, and probably a few laughs.

🪄 Behind the scenes at Loughborough University, we’re ramping up for a Summit aligned with the Rugby World Cup, welcoming some incredible international scholars and co-producing the activities with amazing folk across the rugby landscape, including Alex Teasdale, Kirsty Goldie-Brammer and Karen Jones. (More on that very soon… 👀)

📥 Oh, and a book on the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 is out in the world at the end of June — because why not add a little publishing to the mix? https://www.routledge.com/Critical-Perspectives-on-the-2023-FIFA-Womens-World-Cup-Events-Issues-and-Controversies/Beissel-Brice-Postlethwaite-Grainger/p/book/9781032830889 – if you want access or snippets, then please message me.

If you’re also passionate about the Summer of Women’s Sport or want to get involved with the Women in Sport Research and Innovation Hub at Loughborough, here’s your first port of call:

And finally… if you ask Esther or Andy, then they would probably say I am most excited about going ‘viral’😂 Loughborough University – Intelligent Questions – Verity Postlethwaite – Is women’s sport an effective vehicle to achieve greater gender equality?

It’s taken weeks, months, even decades to build some of this — and I couldn’t be more grateful or more excited!
